Mr. St. John Honored With NYSSMA Achievement Award

The district is #MineolaProud to recognize Band Director Mr. Zachary St. John who was presented with the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Early Career Achievement Educator Award at a ceremony on May 23.

The NYSSMA Early Career Achievement Educator Award recognizes the contributions of music educators in New York State at the local level who have been in the field between five and nine years.

2024 marks Mr. St. John’s eighth year with Mineola, where he began as Assistant Marching Band Director. For the past five years he has served as Band Director for fifth and seventh grade Jazz Band and Big Band at Mineola Middle School.

“Zach is an exceptional educator who is dedicated to guiding each student on a positive learning journey,” said District Supervisor of Fine and Performing Arts Karen Bernstein. “He is focused every day on helping them to develop and thrive while finding joy in the process of making music.”
