On March 11, the Mineola High School Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Mr. Ratner, was happy to welcome Matt Wilson, professional New York-based jazz musician, who provided a workshop for our jazz learners to help them prepare for their district jazz night performance.

Mr. Ratner had the Saturday Night Live Theme arranged for the jazz ensemble to celebrate the SNL Band and the show's 50th anniversary. "It was a thrill working with Matt Wilson. He inspired our learners, helped them be creative and encouraged them to express themselves in a fun and relaxed way."

A special thank you to Mineola alumnus Frank Lao and his band New Vibes New York who performed during the workshop and helped to facilitate the event.
