The district congratulates sophomore Justin Spera on being selected as a candidate for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Student Visionaries of the Year honor.

Justin has been a supporter of LLS since middle school and has raised over $7,000 to date through events and fundraisers in memory of his cousin Thomas, who passed away from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Justin credits his memories of Thomas and the support of his extended family for motivating him to dedicate his time, energy and spirit to the fight against blood cancers. His team name is “Changing TOMorrows,” an homage to Thomas.

Student Visionaries of the Year is a seven-week fundraising and leadership-building campaign running from Feb. 1 through March 21, 2024, where student visionaries build a team, reach out to contacts, plan fundraisers and engage sponsors to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Justin in an inspiration to the Mineola community who truly embodies the spirit of community, philanthropy and leadership. We wish him the best of luck on his efforts to attain the Student Visionary of the Year title and look forward to lending our support and being a part “Changing TOMorrows.”
