Officer Cooper and Officer McGuire from the Nassau County Police Department visited MHS to speak with 8th and 9th graders about social media responsibility and bicycle safety.

The discussed the dangers of sharing too much information online and interacting with strangers and how online stalking and harassing can result in serious legal problems, including arrest.

In addition, they provided bicycle safety tips and highlighted the dangers of reckless biking, including pointing out the threat caused by bikers doing stunts on high-traffic streets. This current issue not only puts the riders in danger but is a public hazard resulting in traffic and pedestrian accidents. The PD is serious about taking action to stop the dangerous practice, including confiscating bikes of those caught in the act.
