“Computeers” Help Local Senior Citizens Navigate Technology

Mineola High School learners are using their technology skills to make a meaningful impact in the community through the school’s “Computeers” program, an initiative that helps local senior citizens navigate today’s digital world.
Part of the Mineola High School Student Service Center, the program brings student volunteers and community members together for monthly after-school sessions focused on technology support. During the sessions, learners provide individualized assistance with smartphones, tablets and laptop computers, helping participants learn how to use features, troubleshoot issues and gain confidence with their devices.
The program not only helps seniors become more comfortable with technology but also fosters valuable connections between generations. Through patience, communication and problem-solving, learners are able to share their knowledge while providing a helpful community service.
Senior citizens from the Mineola area interested in participating in a future “Computeers” session are encouraged to contact the Mineola High School Student Service Center at (516) 237-2614 for more information.
