Voter Information

In order to vote you must be:

  •  a U.S. citizen
  • 18 years old or older
  • a resident of this school district for at least 30 days before the vote. 

Registration Information 

In addition, a resident must be registered either with the Mineola School district or with the Nassau County Board of Elections. If you have not voted in a school district or general election in the last four years, or are a new resident and have not registered to vote either with the school district or the Board of Elections, you need to register in advance to be able to vote in the school budget vote and election.

Am I Registered?

If you would like to register, please complete a Voter Registration form to register to vote in school district elections.  It must be returned in person to the District Clerk at least five days prior to the vote.  Registration with the school district can be accomplished on any school day from 8:00 am and 3:00 o’clock pm when school is in session

  • School District Voter Registration Form - This form allows you to register to vote in school district elections only. It must be returned in person to the District Clerk at least 5 days prior to the vote.
  • Formulario de registro de votantes del distrito escolar - Este formulario le da el derecho a votar sólo en las elecciones del distrito escolar. Dicho formulario debe ser devuelto en persona al Secretario del Distrito por lo menos 5 días antes de la votación.
  • NYS Voter Reg Form COUNTY- This form allows you to register to vote in all elections. It must be returned by mail or in person to the Nassau County Board of Elections at least 25 days before the election you want to vote in. The county will notify you that you are registered to vote. 
  • NYS Formulario de registro de votantes del estado de Nueva York - Con este formulario, usted se registra para votar en las elecciones del estado de Nueva York.

    From now through May 14, 2026, registration is continuous for new residents and those who have had a change of address, Monday through Friday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the Superintendent’s Office, located at 2400 Jericho Turnpike, Garden City Park.

  • Absentee Ballot Information

    Please read the following instructions carefully before downloading and filling out the absentee ballot application.

    1. Complete the Application for an Absentee Ballot, which you can download from the link below.
    2. Date and SIGN the application form. Applications may not be submitted more than 30 days prior to the election or special vote.
    3. Submit the application by mail or in person to:

    If by mail, the application must be received by 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

    If in person, the application must be received by 5:00 p.m., Monday, May 18, 2026.

    Absentee Ballot Application

    Applications may not be transmitted electronically because an original signature is required. Upon receipt, your application will be reviewed, pursuant to the provisions of the Education Law, to establish your entitlement to vote by Early Mail or Absentee Ballot. A Ballot will then be issued to you.

    You will NOT be eligible to vote by Early or Absentee Ballot if:

    • Your application is incomplete, unsigned or undated,
    • You are not a qualified voter of the Mineola UFSD.

    The applications are in PDF format and can be read with Acrobat Reader. If you are unable to download the application, you may obtain an application by calling the District Clerk at 516-237-2043 or visiting the Mineola UFSD Business office during regular business hours.

  • What All Prospective School Board Members Should Know

    Nominating petitions for the Mineola Board of Education may be picked starting on Monday, March 9, 2026, during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the District Clerk’s Office at the Synergy Building, 2400 Jericho Turnpike, Garden City Park, New York.  These petitions are required in order for a candidate’s name to appear on the voting machine ballot.  Please note that this year, a petition must be signed by at least 25 qualified voters (a qualified voter is a resident of the district qualified to vote, not necessarily registered).  In addition, each petition must include the full name and residence of the candidate on each page before a qualified voter signs the petition. 

    Candidates for office of the Board of Education run at large (the candidate receiving the most votes wins).  The terms of office begin July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029.  Margaret A. Ballantyne, Ph.D. and Mr. Patrick Talty are the incumbents whose term of office will expire June 30, 2026.

    Please file your petition in the District Clerk’s office, located at 2400 Jericho Turnpike, Garden City Park, New York, no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026.
