Four Seniors Earn National Merit Commended Student Recognition

We are #MineolaProud to congratulate four Mineola High School learners who were recently recognized as Commended Students in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program, an honor awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
Seniors Zaid Badoolah, Eliana Lee, Lowry Liu and Jason Morgan earned this distinction after scoring within the top 3% of more than one million students nationwide who took the PSAT/NMSQT in October of their junior year.
The National Merit Scholarship Program recognizes academically talented students across the country and is widely regarded as one of the nation’s most prestigious academic recognition programs. Commended Students are acknowledged for their exceptional performance, strong academic potential and readiness to succeed in rigorous college-level coursework.
The district congratulates these four students on this exceptional accomplishment and applauds the perseverance, intellectual curiosity and dedication that have contributed to their success.
