Mineola Learners Collaborate on Holiday Snowman Project
On Dec. 10 and 11, Mineola High School welcomed kindergartners from Meadow Drive and Hampton Street for a special annual holiday activity that brought together students from across the district for a festive, hands-on learning experience.
Working side by side in the Mineola High School Fab Lab, our sophomores and juniors partnered with our littlest learners to design and construct wooden snowmen. Each project began as a plain piece of wood, custom cut to match the height of each kindergartner, and was transformed with colorful seasonal decorations including hats, bows and buttons, along with black finger paint for the eyes, nose and mouth.
The collaborative experience allowed kindergartners to learn alongside older student mentors while engaging in creativity and design. Students proudly completed their snowmen and looked forward to sharing their handmade creations with their families, making the annual tradition a memorable celebration of learning and holiday spirit.
