Middle School Learners Visit LIU Roosevelt School’s White House Experience
Mineola Middle School students recently participated in an engaging educational field trip to the White House Experience and Museum of Democracy at Long Island University’s Roosevelt School in Brookville.
During the visit, students explored a life-size White House simulation, including spaces modeled after the Oval Office, Situation Room and Press Briefing Room. Through guided tours and interactive activities, students learned about the roles and responsibilities of the executive branch and how decisions are made at the highest levels of government.
The experience provided students with a hands-on opportunity to connect classroom instruction to real-world civic concepts. Students took part in discussions and role-playing activities that emphasized leadership, collaboration and critical thinking while examining historical and contemporary issues facing the nation.
In addition, students toured the Museum of Democracy, which features artifacts and exhibits highlighting presidential history, elections and the democratic process. The visit reinforced key social studies themes, including civic responsibility, government structure and active citizenship.
This field trip reflects the district’s commitment to enriching learning beyond the classroom and offering students meaningful experiences that deepen understanding and inspire curiosity about history and government.
