Meadow Drive Second Graders Learn to “Be the Change”

Meadow Drive second graders embraced the spirit of kindness, empathy and service during the district’s “Be the Change Day” on Oct. 2.
As part of the day’s activities, students learned about the life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, whose message of creating positive change through everyday actions continues to inspire people around the world. Through classroom discussions, students explored the importance of treating others with kindness, showing respect and making a difference in their communities.
After reflecting on Gandhi’s teachings, students wrote letters highlighting the lessons they learned and the ways they can help make the world a better place. Their thoughtful responses demonstrated a strong understanding of how even small acts of kindness can have a meaningful impact on others.
Students also participated in a districtwide bookmark campaign, designing colorful bookmarks filled with encouraging messages and creative artwork. The bookmarks will be shared with fellow students, helping spread positivity throughout the school community.
Through writing, creativity and reflection, Meadow Drive’s second graders discovered that everyone has the power to make a difference and that positive change often begins with one simple act of kindness.
