Our 3rd and 4th grade learners kicked off the PARP program (Pick A Reading Partner) with a visit by poet, author and speaker Darren Sardelli.

Mr. Sardelli shared his poetry influences and inspirations and read some of his own published poems. He also talked about some of the methods he uses to come up with his work, including closing his eyes and then writing down his thoughts, no matter how silly!

At the end of his presentation, Mr. Sardelli was happy to answer questions from the learners and then take some fun photos with the groups!

Learners at Jackson, Hampton and Meadow are all participating in PARP, which asks a partner (parent, grandparent, babysitter, older sibling, cousin, friend, etc.) to read with a child for at least 20 minutes daily.
