MHS learners interested in exploring the fields of engineering, architecture and environmental science visited H2M architects + engineers for a Group Student Shadow Day on Dec. 11.

The learners were invited to the offices of H2M architects + engineers, a multi-disciplined professional consulting and design firm, to learn about what career opportunities exist, the type of work they do and to see what a day in the industry looks like.

They were encouraged to interact with H2M team members to discuss career paths and gain perspective on applying textbook concepts to real-life situations. They learned about corporate protocol, the value of networking and the ACE Mentor Program.

This year is the first year that Mineola participated in such a program and the learners were inspired by the experience. They look forward to returning for another shadow session in February.
