At the May 8 meeting, the Mineola Board of Education was proud to recognize learners from Mineola High School and Jackson Avenue School for exceptional achievements in business, research and robotics and for their efforts to keep their school green and safe.

First, the Board honored forty-eight Jackson Avenue learners who participated in the First Lego League Explore Festival in the March. Eight teams from Jackson took part in the day of STEM learning, collaboration and exploration in the world of robotics.

Continuing with the Jackson Avenue recognitions, the Board honored the third and fourth grade members of the Jackson Avenue Brave Student Committee, who help every day to keep students safe at school, and the Jackson Avenue Gardening Club, who are planting vegetables and flowers in the Learning Garden and supporting the school’s composting initiative.

Finally, three learners from Mineola High School were recognized by the Board, including senior Jordan Chaver and sophomore Jasmine Ferreira, who were honored for their success at the DECA State Career Conference, and junior Michael Lampasona, who was awarded Best Research Paper in Business, Finance and Consumerism from St. Joseph's University's 2025 Long Island Summit.
