We are #MineolaProud to cut the ribbon and officially open the brand-new Jackson Avenue Turf Field, which will be used by district and community members for soccer, lacrosse and more! Third and fourth grade learners at Jackson were treated to a visit by the Long Island Nets as they kick off their Read to Achieve program!

In-Arena Host Ally Melendez and mascot “Dale the Eagle” flew in all the way from Uniondale (where the LI Nets basketball team call home) to read two books with the students, do some dancing and giveaway t-shirts.

Ally read the students Lebron James’ book “Promises” and then the students joined in as they were selected to read from Steph Curry’s book “I Have A Superpower”.

All the students received a bookmark that will start them on their Read to Achieve goals. Once they read three books, each student is entitled to a free Nets ticket!

As an introduction to the geometry unit, our 4th grade learners brainstormed what they already know about the topic and participated in an angle scavenger hunt.
