On June 20, Mineola learners, teachers, administrators and board of education members gathered to cut a ceremonial ribbon and celebrate the grand opening of Café at Synergy, a student-run coffeehouse that located at the Synergy building.

From the initial business plan to branding, design and training, learners from Mineola High School’s Synergy program have been involved with every aspect of this new venture. During the upcoming school year, the café will be open to students and faculty during each weekday and staffed exclusively by Synergy learners.

As a part of the Business Pathway, learners will gain valuable management and customer service skills, while having fun, making money and providing a service to their school community. This innovative program is a shining example of the Board of Education’s commitment to provide real learning opportunities that truly make our students college and career ready.
