Students from Mineola Middle School recently participated in a contest offered by Assemblyman Edward Ra to engage students in the legislative process and NYS government. Through this activity, fifth-grade students learned about the steps in which a bill becomes a law and then used that knowledge to consider and then propose ideas that are important to them. Mineola had many finalists who will be honored May 23 at the Garden City Library where they will receive a citation honoring their accomplishment. Congratulations to our finalists: Chloe Patalano, Julianna Reilly, Madeleine Christianson, Noemia Livorno, Luca Bernardes, Dylan Coutore, Sydney Grimm, Mary Bonet, Daniela Casey, Emily Souza Antunes. And, their teachers: Ms. Kopp, Mrs. Doherty, Ms. Amzler, Mrs. Henton and Ms. Rojas.
