Congratulations to Superintendent Michael P. Nagler, Ed.D., who has been selected to receive the Nassau BOCES Education Partner Award which pays tribute to outstanding community and business leaders.

Under Dr. Nagler’s leadership, the district: was among the first to begin a 1:1, take-home iPad initiative for students; has had all five of its schools named as Apple Distinguished Schools; has had all five schools recognized as a Common Sense School for Digital Citizenship; became one of only 101 members nationwide in the League of Innovative Schools; and became the first district on Long Island with a Fabrication Lab, commonly referred to as a Fab Lab, where students learn, design, collaborate and build in a small-scale workshop environment. The district was named among the top 10 Digital School Districts in 2017-18 by The Center for Digital Education and the National School Boards Association, the Top 25 Most Innovative Districts by AASA and SPN, and Dr. Nagler was named among the Top 30 Technologists, Transformers and Trailblazers for 2017 by the Center for Digital Education.

Dr. Nagler has been with the Mineola School District for 20 of his 32 years in education and has been a member of its administration since 1999. He holds a Doctor of Education from Columbia University. Dr. Nagler currently serves as president for the Nassau County Council of School Superintendents and on the advisory board for Digital Promise’s League of Innovative Schools.

He will be honored with the award at the Nassau BOCES 13th Annual Education Partner Awards Gala on April 9.
