Congratulations to Mineola High School’s Marching Band which placed
first in their division at the New York State Field Band Conference
State Championship held at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, NY this
weekend. The win capped off one of their best seasons in recent history.
This year’s show, titled A.I.: Artificial Intelligence was written
entirely by Mineola staff members, including Ken Kamping and Chris
Toomey. You can see a video of their performance at the
http://mineolafinearts.weebly.com.
Under the direction of Mr. Toomey, students have been diligently
rehearsing the show since last May. The band finished their weekend
placing first in the Small Schools II Division with a score of 85.05.
Students are rated in music and visual categories meant to be as
subjective as possible. The band was welcomed home on Monday afternoon
by members of the school community and a special escort from the local
fire department.
