With more than 15 years of teaching experience in the district, she has previously served as an elementary classroom teacher, reading teacher, literacy coordinator and, most recently, an instructional leader.

Mrs. Maravel has extensive knowledge in the Reading and Writing Workshop models and has overseen numerous initiatives such as buildingwide technology integration of a 1:1 iPad initiative. She holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education and psychology from Hofstra University, a master’s degree in literacy studies from Hofstra University, a literacy coordinator certificate from Lesley University and a school district administration certificate from LIU Post.

Mrs. Maravel is passionate about preparing students to become college and career ready through the integration of technology, real-world applications and rigorous instruction.

“I am excited to partner with the teachers to provide our students with an engaging, high-quality primary school experience,” Mrs. Maravel said. “I am committed to helping each student achieve their very best. Along with the teachers and staff, I will work hard to create a learning environment where children are happy, want to come to school and are excited to be here.”
