Two Apple Distinguished Schools

The second school in the district to receive the distinction, Jackson Avenue School has been named an Apple Distinguished School for the 2015-16 school year. A limited number of schools in the nation were selected for this award, which is reserved for those that have demonstrated Apple’s highest vision of a successful 21st-century learning environment. The award is a testament to the district’s dedication to enhanced learning for students through iPads for home and school use. The vision began in Mineola as a pilot program for fifth-graders at Jackson Avenue in the spring of 2010. In the five years since then, the district has received numerous accolades for its integration of technology into the classrooms. Mineola Middle School was honored as an Apple Distinguished School in 2013 and qualified for the award again this year.
