Young artists at Hampton Street have been learning about the Dutch artist, Piet Mondrian. A painter who used primary colors to shape his abstract art from the 1900’s, first-graders have been creating collages inspired by Mondrian’s art. Not only does it reinforce the primary colors of red, yellow and blue, but teaches students about geometric shapes and the difference between vertical and horizontal lines.
