Congratulations to Ankita Patel and Valerie Mallon, who have been named the valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, of the Class of 2020.

Ankita, who is graduating with an AP Capstone Diploma and as an AP Scholar with Distinction, has been an active member of the school community. Along with serving as president of the National Honor Society, she was a member of the Science National Honor Society, World Language Club, Mathletes, Ted Ed Club, Athletes Helping Athletes and Key Club. Ankita volunteered as secretary of the high school’s Student Service Center, as well. She also participated in varsity winter track, junior varsity basketball and junior varsity volleyball. During the summer prior to her senior year, she had the opportunity to shadow two general dentists to see how technology has changed the field. She plans to attend the University of Michigan and major in biology.

Valerie has received various recognitions for her musical talents throughout her high school career, including Excellent Achievement in String Ensemble Award, NYSSMA Award, Outstanding Musicianship Award, First Chair Award and Tri-M Certificate. In addition to her participation in String Ensemble, Valerie was a member of Dignity Club, Environmental Club, Robotics, National Honor Society, World Language Club and Literary Society. Valerie has excelled in her AP courses, receiving three perfect scores on AP Environmental Science, AP Language and Composition, and AP U.S. History. She also volunteered at the high school’s Student Service Center.  She plans to attend Georgetown University in the fall.
